In this article we look at Benaiah, Solomon’s personal assassin, the first trophy hunter, and the outrageous lengths he went to to prove his manhood. Despite his valour he battled the inner demon of pride and insecurity and struggled with other’s expectations. After a while Benaiah begins to go out of his way to perform increasingly bizarre exploits to prove his bravery and manhood and to try to make a name for himself.We can learn much from his story in our own battle with pride and insecurity.
