When mankind tries to understand the Bible, there is one obstacle; the mind of the natural man or woman. Natural mankind cannot understand spiritual things.
1 Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
Now, many people do have the Spirit of God in them and thereby have the Spiritual capacity to receive the things of God. However, by now, we should all be well aware that Christians are not exempt from spiritual deception.
“Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees”! Why would Jesus make such a specific point to warn his disciples? It is obvious if we analyze this; that a little yeast in a wad of flour and water will leaven the whole amount of dough. What is not quite so obvious is that Jesus was saying in effect; it would take only a small amount of Pharisee/Sadducee type of thinking (doctrine) to permeate and cause great harm to the followers of Christ. A very specific warning from Jesus about a very specific danger to his followers! (Continue reading)
