EDITOR’S OPINION NOTE: If you were watching the National Prayer Breakfast this morning, perhaps you felt a slight cringe reaction to some of the off-the-cuff remarks by President Trump regarding Democrats’ long, failed saga of impeachment against him. No doubt any one of us would feel the same hurt after all he’s been through, and would struggle not to express it. But one thing Donald Trump is, is REAL. While taking the high road and not mentioning it would have looked more ‘presidential,’ the Commander-in-Chief admitted, “I’m trying to learn … it’s not easy. When they impeach you for nothing, and then you’re supposed to like them; it’s not easy folks, I do my best!” After all this president has been through, and after all he’s accomplished for this country in spite of it, I give him a pass on wearing his heart on his sleeve. It was less than 15 hours since the United States Senate had acquitted the president of impeachment charges, and just a day and a half since the President’s State of the Union address where he again showed himself to be a pro-life champion.

Sitting at the head table a few seats away from the president at this morning’s breakfast was House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who had led the impeachment effort.

Before Trump spoke, the addled-looking California Democrat took to the podium and read a prayer for religious liberty.

“Let’s honor the spark of divinity in all,” she said, and crossed herself “in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost,” as she concluded. Pelosi professes to be Catholic, but supports abortion on demand and same-sex “marriage.”

She neither addressed nor acknowledged President Trump, forgoing an opportunity to publicly apologize for her recent insulting gesture on national television, ripping the text of his State of the Union speech as she stood behind him…
