UPenn Agrees to Restore Records, Issue Apologies to Female Athletes

Rabbi Michael Barclay-Opinion (July 2, 2025)

This is a victory for all athletes and all human beings. It is a sign that we are getting out of the gender dysphoria mess that our society has been steeped in. It is a hopeful signal that the fantasy that men can be women just by saying so, and as such, can compete against real women, is a delusion that will no longer be accepted.

[PJMedia.com] The great Stephen Kruiser just wrote a column about the myths of “transgenderism” (previously called more accurately gender dysphoria), where he labeled his pronouns as “Enough” and “Already.” I’ve written numerous times that supporting the myth that men can be women is tantamount to idol worship. It seems that society is now catching up to the common sense of a comic and a rabbi. Will [“Lia”] Thomas must be fuming (and the courageous Riley Gaines is celebrating). (Screengrab image)

US Department of Education Secretary Linda McMahon announced in a Tuesday statement that the University of Pennsylvania is settling its Title IX lawsuit and has “agreed both to apologize for its past Title IX violations and to ensure that women’s sports are protected at the University for future generations of female athletes.” This is glorious (and about time) on every level, and UPenn is being forced to eat crow and return to the common sense of gender identification through six steps as part of the settlement.

  1. UPenn will restore all female swimming records and titles to actual women, “which were misappropriated by male athletes allowed to compete in female categories.” Sorry, Will, you can call yourself Lia all day and night, but your fraudulent behavior is being deleted from the record books.
  2. UPenn will issue a public statement committing to honor Title IX standards and forbidding men from competing in women’s athletics or being in their locker rooms. That’s right, Will, no more slinging your junk in front of actual women.
  3. UPenn “will adopt biology-based definitions of male and female consistent with President Trump’s Executive Orders ‘Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism’ and ‘Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports.'” Will, you lose while President Trump just keeps winning.
  4. UPenn will post this statement prominently on its website and on all women’s athletics websites. Hey Penn, how does that crow taste?
  5. UPenn will “rescind any guidance which violated Title IX,” including removing or revising all internal and public documents. That’s right, no more grooming our kids on the Penn campus.
  6. “UPenn will send a personalized letter of apology to each impacted female swimmer.” And no autopen signing. These letters aren’t nearly enough for the hell these female athletes went through. Penn should be reimbursing them their tuition money as well as extra for the trauma the school inflicted on these young women.

If I sound overly jubilant, it’s because I am. This nonsense of acting like there is no physical difference between a biological male who wants to succeed in women’s athletics and actual women has always been ludicrous on every level. It has been destroying the lives of every real female athlete who worked so hard to achieve excellence and has been a stain on athletics since this craziness started being accepted… Subscribe for free to Breaking Christian News here

“A government burdens the religious exercise of parents when it requires them to submit their children to instruction that poses ‘a very real threat of undermining’ the religious beliefs and practices that the parents wish to instill.” -Justice Samuel Alito

[MRCTV.org] On Friday, the Supreme Court sided with a group of Muslim, Catholic and Ukrainian Orthodox parents in Maryland asking for the right to opt-out their children from instruction that violates and disparages their religious beliefs by indoctrinating students with LGBTQ+ sexual ideology. (Image: Pexels)

The parents are suing Montgomery County Public Schools for incorporating books into their preschool through 12th grade language arts curriculum that feature and promote “lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer characters.” The lawsuit contends that the books and instruction violate parents’ constitutional right to freedom of religion.

And, because the Maryland school board is refusing to allow them to opt-out their children while the lawsuit proceeds through the appellate process, the parents petitioned the Supreme Court for an injunction.

The Supreme Court ruled that the parents are entitled to a temporary injunction because they have shown that:

  • They are likely to ultimately succeed on the merits of their case.
  • They are likely to suffer irreparable harm in the absence of preliminary relief.
  • The balance of equities tips in their favor.
  • An injunction would be in the public interest.

“A government burdens the religious exercise of parents when it requires them to submit their children to instruction that poses ‘a very real threat of undermining’ the religious beliefs and practices that the parents wish to instill,” Justice Samuel Alito wrote, presenting the majority opinion of the 6-3 decision.

“And a government cannot condition the benefit of free public education on parents’ acceptance of such instruction,” Alito explained.

Since the books promote “gender transitions, Pride parades, and same-sex playground romance,” they create “indirect pressure to forgo a religious practice,” the parents say.

The storybooks convey a normative message on the subjects of sex and gender that contradicts the beliefs of many Americans, the decision explains:

“Many Americans, like the parents in this case, believe that biological sex reflects divine creation, that sex and gender are inseparable, and that children should be encouraged to accept their sex and to live accordingly.”

“The storybooks, however, suggest that it is hurtful, and perhaps even hateful, to hold the view that gender is inextricably bound with biological sex,” the ruling explains, noting that the that parents contend that the books impose upon their children a set of values and beliefs that are hostile to their beliefs.

The books exert upon children a psychological pressure to confirm to faith-denying viewpoints, the parents charge.

What’s more, the school board “has specifically encouraged teachers to reinforce this viewpoint and to reprimand any children who disagree,” the majority opinion notes. Subscribe for free to Breaking Christian News here

“That goes far beyond mere “exposure,” Alito writes:

“We reject this chilling vision of the power of the state to strip away the critical right of parents to guide the religious development of their children.”

But perhaps the most humiliating part for CBS is the new “Trump Rule” that it must adopt. From now on, according to sources who spoke to Fox News Digital, whenever it interviews a presidential candidate, it must release the full, unedited transcript. No more creative editing to hide embarrassing moments or prop up favored candidates.

[PJMedia.com] What happens when a network gets caught red-handed trying to polish Kamala Harris’ trademark incoherence into something vaguely intelligible? CBS and its parent company, Paramount Global, just learned the answer, and the fallout is nothing short of devastating. In a major legal victory, President Trump has secured a massive settlement over the now-infamous edited Harris interview—a payout so large and humiliating that it should shake the legacy media to its foundation. (Screengrab image: via X)

This isn’t just a win for Trump. It’s a blunt warning to every media outlet thinking about running cover for a flailing administration.

The trouble began last October, when Trump filed suit against CBS and Paramount after they were exposed for deceptively editing an interview with Kamala Harris. The intent was obvious: scrub out the worst of her rambling, awkward responses to make her look less like the incoherent liability the American public has come to expect and more like someone who might actually belong on a national ticket. Trump’s legal team called it what it was: blatant election interference. And now, the courts have backed him up.

The network tried to wriggle out of it with a $15 million settlement offer back in May, but Trump wasn’t having it. He rejected it, and the gamble paid off big time. The details are now public, and they’re nothing short of devastating for CBS. The settlement includes an initial payment of $16 million, which not only eclipses their original offer but also surpasses what ABC had to cough up after George Stephanopoulos’s defamation blunder against Trump last December.

But CBS’ pain doesn’t end there. There’s a second, yet-to-be-finalized payment on the horizon, reportedly also in the eight-figure range, that will push the total settlement over $30 million. That’s not just a slap on the wrist; it’s a full-on reckoning. And it’s not just about the money; the terms of the settlement are a blueprint for how to hold the leftist media accountable.

This is a direct response to the Kamala interview, where CBS had to chop and splice her rambling, nonsensical answer on Israel into something barely passable for broadcast. The raw footage, of course, told the real story that the American people weren’t supposed to see… Subscribe for free to Breaking Christian News here

Disqualifying Planned Parenthood as a Medicaid qualified provider would be a significant blow to the abortion giant and deprive it of essential taxpayer-funded financial calories. Then, if Congress would follow the lead of South Carolina and deprive Planned Parenthood of federal tax dollars, perhaps we could impose on it the same fate it has unconscionably imposed on millions of babies.

[WashingtonStand.com] In the debate over whether individuals can enforce rights under laws passed via the Spending Clause of Article I, Section 8 of the US Constitution, one significant truth clearly emerges from the recent Supreme Court decision in Medina v. Planned Parenthood South Atlantic: states have the authority to defund Planned Parenthood through Medicaid, and there is nothing Abortion, Inc. can do about it.  (Screengrab image: via CBS News)

Medicaid’s Purpose and South Carolina’s Action
Sixty years ago, Congress created Medicaid to provide health care services to those who Congress deemed at the time to be unable to pay for basic health care needs. In one of the House Reports on the issue, Congress noted that Medicaid’s financial partnership between the federal government and the states was created because “these people are the most needy in the country and it is appropriate for medical care costs to be met, first, for these people.” Those most qualified for Medicaid dollars were individuals Congress declared as “categorically needy.”

In Medina, the Supreme Court just reviewed a case involving South Carolina’s decision to exercise its authority under the Medicaid funding partnership to remove Planned Parenthood from its list of “qualified” providers. Planned Parenthood operates two facilities in South Carolina and claims to provide a host of services at each facility for individuals who qualify for Medicaid coverage. In what can only be described as the understatement of the year, the Supreme Court noted that these two facilities “also perform abortions.”

Notably, South Carolina has at least 140 other medical facilities that qualify to provide Medicaid services and at which any South Carolinian can obtain medical care, in addition to a host of private medical facilities that would also accept Medicaid patients throughout the state. In short, removing Planned Parenthood from the list of qualified providers in South Carolina would not even cause a blip on the radar for Medicaid recipients in the state.

South Carolina’s Rationale
Realizing it could continue to provide quality and widespread care to those who need it, without skipping a beat, South Carolina announced in 2018 that it was removing Planned Parenthood from the list of qualified providers under its Medicaid program. The reason?

South Carolina state law prohibits the use of public funds for abortion, and even Medicaid dollars not directly designated for abortion indirectly subsidizes Planned Parenthood’s abortion activities, which violates state law and the ethical standards of its citizens.

In other words, South Carolina made the prudent and principled decision that it refused to give its taxpayers’ hard-earned dollars to an entity designed for nothing more than the murder of innocent children in the womb. Good for South Carolina. More states should follow its prudent path. So, too, should the United States Congress.

Protecting Public Trust and Upholding Ethics
By excluding abortion-related providers, South Carolina advanced its interests in promoting life and respecting the deeply held convictions of its citizens. This decision isn’t merely a matter of policy preferences; it reflects a bedrock principle: taxpayer funds must never subsidize activities that violate federal laws and basic human decency. Because Planned Parenthood is not only Abortion, Inc., and the largest murderer that has ever existed (in corporate form)—it is also the purveyor of the most grotesque and illegal trafficking of human body parts imaginable.

The state plainly has discretion and a compelling interest in defunding such an entity. In fact, Liberty Counsel filed an amicus brief in this case noting the law’s language allows for states to disqualify providers that engage in unethical and illegal practices, in which Planned Parenthood has been credibly implicated.

As Liberty Counsel’s amicus brief demonstrated, Planned Parenthood officials have been caught on tape discussing the sale of fetal tissue, haggling over baby body part prices, and explaining how abortion procedures could be altered to ensure intact organs for sale. And, to add insult to injury, some of these conversations took place while the abortionist casually drank wine and ate a salad, as if the discussion of dismembering living children was just business as usual. Such conduct is not only a flagrant violation of federal law but is also simply abhorrent.

Each state has the right—and indeed a duty—to ensure that its Medicaid dollars do not subsidize an organization engaged in such inhumane and unlawful practices. In fact, given that Medicaid is a taxpayer-funded program, public trust in its integrity is paramount. South Carolina has determined that funneling state funds to Planned Parenthood—an entity implicated in the unlawful sale of fetal tissue—undermines the program’s integrity and betrays the trust of the citizens who fund it.

South Carolina reserves the right to ensure that its citizens’ taxpayer dollars are not distributed to organizations with a moral compass so lacking that it permits them to dismember living children for profit and describe it to others as if the subject of their abhorrent, grotesque, and unlawful practices was not another living human being. One would search in vain for a more compelling reason to exclude an organization from Medicaid’s program.

A Precedent for Other States and Congress
The Supreme Court’s ruling in Medina empowers other states to also cut off Planned Parenthood funding. Planned Parenthood is undeserving of taxpayer funds, and states now have a potent weapon in their arsenal to defund Abortion, Inc.

“…This is a dream because, frankly, we are tired. The word tired has a great concern behind it that only the people of Gaza know. We are exhausted, we are tired. We hope to God that the war will end. This is a dream.” -Mahmoud Wadi, a Gaza Strip resident

[CBN News] There could be a pause in the fighting between Israel and Hamas soon. President Trump says Israel has agreed to the necessary conditions for a ceasefire, and Hamas may be open to it, but serious roadblocks remain. (Screengrab image: via CBN News)

With Prime Minister Netanyahu heading to the White House on Monday, President Trump took to Truth Social, posting that Israel has signed off on the terms for a 60-day ceasefire with Hamas.

“He wants to do that, {Prime Minister Netanyahu},” said Trump on Tuesday. “I think we’ll have a deal next week.”

Trump says he’ll press Netanyahu to wrap up the war and warned Hamas to take the deal, or, in his words, “IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE.”

Inside Gaza, word of a possible ceasefire brought hope and some cautious relief.

“This is a dream for us, for the people of Gaza,” said Mahmoud Wadi, a Gaza Strip resident. “This is a dream because, frankly, we are tired. The word tired has a great concern behind it that only the people of Gaza know. We are exhausted, we are tired. We hope to God that the war will end. This is a dream.”

The Israeli military says it has taken control of about 75% of the Gaza Strip, claiming it has already defeated three of Hamas’s five brigades, with the last two surrounded.

“The Prime Minister is working to end the campaign in Gaza through the release of the hostages and the defeat of Hamas as soon as possible,” said David Mencer, an Israeli government spokesman.

Hamas suggested it was open to a ceasefire agreement with Israel, but stopped short of accepting it, insisting on its longstanding position that any deal would end the war.

Previous ceasefire talks have fallen apart mostly over what comes next.

Israel wants the option to restart fighting if needed. Hamas is pushing for a permanent ceasefire, full Israeli withdrawal, and the release of Palestinian prisoners. (Screengrab image: via CBN News)

Israel’s position hasn’t changed. They say the war only ends if Hamas surrenders, disarms, and leaves Gaza.

And while talks continue, the fighting hasn’t stopped. The IDF says it intercepted missiles from both Gaza and Yemen on Tuesday night.

Sirens rang out in Jerusalem and other cities, but no damage or injuries were reported.

After that, US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee posted on X, writing: “We thought we were done with missiles coming to Israel, but Houthis just lit one up… Maybe those B-2 bombers need to visit Yemen!” Subscribe for free to Breaking Christian News here

“This conflict in eastern DRC is one of the longest conflicts on the continent—30 years. We have had a genocidal movement that has been destabilizing our country during this whole period. Anyone, including President Trump, who would help sizably to bring this conflict to an end deserves the Nobel Peace Prize. Absolutely.” -Rwanda’s Foreign Minister Olivier Nduhungirehe

[WashingtonStand.com] “Get out! Get out!” the rebels yelled, rounding up Christians, tying them together, and transporting them to a nearby church. Hours later, the grisly scene in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) defied imagination. There, in the nearby village of Kasanga, lay the bodies of dozens of men, women, and children — all decapitated by the militants’ trademark machetes and long knives. The beheadings were just the latest in a long line of bloody horrors the world had barely acknowledged. “We don’t know what to do or how to pray,” an elder of another church said in February. “We’ve had enough of massacres. May God’s will alone be done.” (Screengrab image: via Washington Stand /The State Department)

While Americans’ attention has been on Israel, Iran, Ukraine, Russia, China, and our own borders, a vicious war has raged between Rwanda and the DRC, a systematic campaign of rape, terror, and butchery against the predominately Christian nation of the DRC. For months, that quiet invasion has only intensified, as a rebel force linked to Rwanda — the M23 — along with the Islamist Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) tried to seize key territories of the second largest country in Africa and control the mineral-rich land, said to be sitting on $24 trillion worth of natural resources.

Nightmarish testimonies of looting, burning, sexual violence, and displacement started bubbling to the attention of the UN and Human Rights Watch, where stories of brutality began confirming what had become a legitimate humanitarian crisis. One after another, women and girls came forward after the situation grew dangerously worse. Some are pregnant with their attackers’ children, but with no idea which of the many rapists is the father.

A 22-year-old described the armed soldiers, on a mission secretly sanctioned by Rwanda, overtaking her town. “The M23 harassed people and looted houses. They took what they wanted and took men away. I don’t know where they took them. … After two weeks, they started raping women. They didn’t care if we were married or not. They came to my house in the evening on February 20. They told my husband to leave. There were seven of them, and five raped me. My husband couldn’t stand what happened to me and left me. I had to flee on my own, through the forest.”

Another mother and daughter were trying to flee, only to be robbed by a band of rebels. “They wanted to rape us,” she told Human Rights Watch investigators. “My mother said no, so they shot a bullet into her chest, and she died on the spot. Then four of them raped me. As they were raping me, one said: ‘We’ve come from Rwanda to destroy you.'”

Others described being gang raped until they lost consciousness or trying to bribe the men not to violate them. Some husbands were forced to watch, along with their crying children. “They tore my clothes,” one woman remembers emotionally. “I was crying and begging them to kill me rather than rape me.” They didn’t listen. Her screams still haunt her husband.

Thousands have been killed — shot in cold blood, blown to pieces with shoulder-fired rockets, or caught up in the massive explosions since the conflict peaked earlier this year. Moïse Ombeni was at church in Goma when he heard militants were moving in on the town. “We were in a general panic, and we were wondering if we should stay or go,” he said in French.

In a harrowing account to Christianity Today, Ombeni says he managed to get home, lock the doors, and wait. “He felt the house vibrate when stray bullets hit the roof and ricocheted into his courtyard. Outside, hundreds of civilians and soldiers died from gunfire and explosions. Unlike in previous conflicts, government forces fought directly with M23 in every part of the city, a decision that directly increased the number of civilian casualties and damaged buildings.”

Ombeni told reporter Morgan Lee that he began “praying with his family and reciting all 16 verses of Psalm 91 to them. He reached out to his friends from church, and they prayed together on online platforms until their internet connection was cut off.” At least 900 bodies were found strewn across the streets, the UN reported.

Rwandan President Paul Kagame denied his country’s involvement, but the international community knew better. Armed with surveillance video and drone footage, NBC News’ investigation uncovered “definitive proof” that the Congolese were victims of a “carefully concealed and high-tech operation” by Rwandan forces to take over an area of land that was home to five million people.

In just two months, more than 10,000 cases of rape and sexual violence — almost half against children as young as 10 — have been documented (countless others were not). Until recently, the locals “describe[d] a state of near lawlessness in city centers, where gangs of armed men, some escaped from local prisons, prey on civilians using weapons left behind by the Congolese army.”

This is the Hellish situation that the Trump administration has been intensely negotiating behind the scenes to stop. “They were going at it for many years, and with machetes,” the president emphasized Friday. “It is one of the worst wars that anyone has ever seen. And I just happened to have somebody that was able to get it settled,” he explained, referring to his African envoy, Massad Boulos, the father-in-law of his daughter Tiffany.

In an incredible development, the president celebrated a peace deal between the two nations, which could end the decades-long bloodshed that has ravaged the two bordering countries. “We just ended a war that was going on for 30 years with six million people dead,” Trump said, as the foreign ministers flanked him. “No other president could do it.”

The ceasefire, which has been tragically overshadowed by the headlines swirling over the US strike against Iran, Supreme Court rulings, and the Big Beautiful Bill, is one of the most consequential achievements of Trump’s term. “It was vicious,” Trump reiterated at Friday’s White House press conference. “People’s heads being chopped off. And I have a man who’s very good in that part of the world, very smart, and put them together, and we’re signing a peace treaty today. First time in many years they’re going to have peace, and it’s a big deal.” Then, acknowledging the other big news of the day, the president said, “It’s sort of sad, because we’re doing the signing at 3:00, and [these rulings] may very well dominate the signing of a big war that was going on and really affecting … the entire continent of Africa.” (Screengrab image: via Face The Nation)

And while the announcement played second-fiddle to a lot of the domestic news last week, the achievement did not go unnoticed by longtime human rights advocates like Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ), who’s been holding a string of congressional hearings about the atrocities there. “Six million deaths is staggering and intolerable,” the New Jersey Republican insisted. “The United States — under President Trump — is leading the way in promoting regional peace, real accountability, and transparent supply chains through principled diplomacy and smart solutions.” This is, he underscored, “a critical and long-overdue step toward ending the violence and suffering that has engulfed the region for far too long.”

Under the terms of the agreement, The Washington Post reports, the two sides agreed to “halt aggression against each other and to cease support for armed groups on each other’s territory.” They also pledged to try to cooperate economically, including on “mining and processing materials and other resources ‘that link both countries, in partnership, as appropriate, with the US government and US investors.'”

Joel Kappa, a Fulbright alumnus, author, and now director of Ethical Servant Leadership Center, was educated in the US and lives in the DRC, where he’s watched the suffering of the Congolese people up close. He, like so many others, insists that he is “deeply grateful to President Trump’s administration and its commitment to end the war.” As he emphasized to The Washington Stand, “Conflict and violence can never create a peaceful society — only love, justice, integrity, and compassion can.”

“I’m praying,” Kappa continued, “that God will continue to use President Trump’s administration to end this long and meaningless conflict between DRC and Rwanda. I’m convinced that the time for peace has come, and we must learn now to love and live together like brothers and sisters. That’s what God wants from us as His children, and I’m happy to see that President Trump and his administration understand it clearly.”

The pact is so significant to the African continent that Rwanda’s Foreign Minister Olivier Nduhungirehe believes Trump should receive the world’s highest honors for helping to end the bloody war. “This conflict in eastern DRC is one of the longest conflicts on the continent — 30 years,” Nduhungirehe told Breitbart News on Saturday afternoon. “We have had a genocidal movement that has been destabilizing our country during this whole period. Anyone, including President Trump, who would help sizably to bring this conflict to an end deserves the Nobel Peace Prize. Absolutely.”

While most Americans had no idea of the severity of the situation, they’re starting to get an inkling of just how significant last Friday’s news is — and will be — to the millions of persecuted Congolese.

“May this peace agreement be the first step toward a secure, stable, and more prosperous future for the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, and all others in the region who desire peace,” Family Research Council’s Travis Weber told TWS. “The Trump administration has laid the governmental groundwork for a pathway toward a more prosperous future. Now is the time to follow through and implement it, so that violence and bloodshed cease,” he urged, “so that the people of this region — many of whom are Christian — can live in peace and harmony.”

Hopefully, Weber underscored, “this agreement can be a model for others in the region and can serve as the basis for true flourishing of the countries involved and their people — and not merely enrich others from the outside at the expense of the people of the DRC and Rwanda.” Subscribe for free to Breaking Christian News here
