The poker scheme, which used X-ray tables to read cards face down, wireless devices and chip tray analyzers, was tied to the Italian mafia, La Cosa Nostra.

“They used off-the-shelf shuffling machines that had been secretly altered in order to read the cards in the deck, predict which player at the table had the best poker hand, and relay that information to an off-site operator,” US Attorney Joseph Nocella said.

“Defendants used other cheating technologies such as poker chip tray analyzers, which is a poker chip tray that secretly read cards using a hidden camera—special contact lenses or eyeglasses that could read pre-marked cards, and an X-ray table that could read cards face down on the table,” he said.

Despite the Trump administration implementing new rules requiring truck drivers to test for English language proficiency, California Democrats have stubbornly refused because they always prioritize law-breaking foreigners over American citizens. Unfortunately, that allowed one law-breaking foreigner to kill three Americans in a deadly DUI crash.

So this tragedy was entirely preventable if only Democrats had enforced the law, first, by not allowing Singh into the country, and second, by not allowing him to be a truck driver.

Fox News national correspondent Bill Melugin added more details. Singh has not been officially charged but is in custody with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI), “causing great bodily injury and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.”

Singh sped into slow-moving traffic without ever using his brakes in his semi-truck and set off a fiery and deadly chain reaction that left three people dead.

The Trump administration is hitting Planned Parenthood’s wallet, but far-left states like California are helping to sustain the abortion giant with government funding.

NBC 7 San Diego reports that Planned Parenthood of Orange & San Bernardino Counties (PPOSBC) will be closing locations in Anaheim, Costa Mesa, Mission Viejo, Santa Ana, Westminster, San Bernardino, and Upland effective December 10, laying off some 81 employees as a result of President Donald Trump’s so-called “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” (BBB), which contains a one-year ban on federal tax dollars going through Medicaid to entities that commits abortions for reasons other than rape, incest, or supposed threats to the mother’s life.

In a press release, PPOSBC describes the affected locations as offering “primary care services” but claims the BBB won’t impact its abortion operations since those receive funding from California’s far-left Democrat state government. “They came after abortion, but they’re taking away everything else that we do,” said PPOSBC President and Chief Executive Krista Hollinger.

Yet defunding all aspects of Planned Parenthood contributes to reducing the abortion giant’s overall profits and ability to continue operating, which in turn impacts its ability to continue abortions in the long run, as without Roe v. Wade to ensure abortion’s legality, the industry relies heavily on taxpayer funding to stay in operation…

Earlier in the day, Vance met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Isaac Herzog, with the US vice president describing the period following the conclusion of the ceasefire-for-hostages deal with Hamas as “days of destiny” that are “changing the face of the Middle East.”

Vance ended his second day in Israel with a tour of the City of David archaeological site, which may be the location of the palace of the Biblical King David.

Nigeria, the most populous nation on the African continent, has been home to the targeting and murdering of Christians on a scale not seen anywhere else in the world. The Nigerian organization Intersociety estimates that since 2009, 52,000 Christians have been murdered and more than 20,000 churches have been attacked and burned by various Islamist extremist groups, including Fulani herders, Boko Haram, and other Islamic State and al Qaeda-linked terror groups.

The letter, led by Nina Shea of the Hudson Institute’s Center for Religious Freedom and joined by Family Research Council President Tony Perkins, Focus on the Family President Jim Daly, former Congressman Frank Wolf, San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone, and dozens of other leaders observed that the Nigerian government “is directly violating religious freedom by enforcing Islamic blasphemy laws that carry the death penalty and harsh prison sentences against citizens of various religions. It also demonstrably tolerates relentless aggression uniquely against Christian farming families by militant Fulani Muslim herders, who appear intent on forcibly Islamizing the Middle Belt.”

The genocidal pattern of the killings has increased dramatically this year compared to previous years. In August, it was reported that over 7,000 Christians had been killed, more than doubling the total from 2024 with four months still remaining. In a single predawn attack in June against a farming village populated by Nigerian civilians who had previously been displaced by attacks, at least 200 men, women, children, and elderly were indiscriminately slaughtered after a building where many of them were sleeping was set on fire; those who tried to escape were gunned down or hacked to death with machetes. One eyewitness recounted that bodies were “burned beyond recognition: infants, children, mothers, and fathers just wiped out.”

Shortly before leaving office in 2020, the Trump administration designated Nigeria a CPC, which allows for a variety of economic sanctions to be imposed on the country in order to pressure Nigeria’s government to implement the rule of law and protect Christians and other religious minorities from violence. But the following year, the Biden administration rescinded the designation, notably just a day before then-Secretary of State Antony Blinken visited Nigerian state leaders. Now, an ecumenical coalition of 35 Christian leaders are encouraging President Trump to reinstate the designation to hold the Nigerian government accountable. Jacqueline Halbig von Schleppenbach, CEO and principal consultant at Sovereign Global Solutions who helped to coordinate the coalition letter, told The Washington Stand that the timing of the letter is critical as the Trump administration mulls how to tackle the violence against Nigerian Christians.

“We understand that the decision for whether or not to designate Nigeria CPC status is currently being deliberated and that a decision is imminent,” she explained. “We were planning on doing something like this anyway, but then we found out that the Nigerian government is pulling out all the stops in their public affairs campaign to influence our government not to grant CPC status to Nigeria.”

Halbig von Schleppenbach went on to emphasize how useful a CPC designation can be toward convincing governments to change course.

“A CPC designation carries with it a good bit of weight,” she underscored. “It embarrasses the government, and it’s not something they want. The CPC designation has leverage and weight, something that is lacking in pure diplomatic conversations. There is a genocide going on. We have more than enough proof of this. We have daily reports from the ground. We see what’s happening. We know it’s always militant Fulani and other Islamists that are slaughtering these people. And they say it’s not happening. We feel like unless there is some sort of leverage which calls them to account and requires them to clean up their act, it won’t happen. [TimesofIsrael.com] An Assyrian inscription dating to around 2,700 years ago was unearthed in an archaeological excavation near the Temple Mount in Jerusalem’s Old City—the first time written evidence of the relations between the Assyrian Empire and the Kingdom of Judah has been discovered in the city, the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) announced Wednesday. Inscribed on a pottery fragment 2.5 centimeters (1 inch) in size, the writing mentions a delay in payment, the first day of the month of Av, and the title of an Assyrian officer, the “holder of the reins,” a position connected to the royal court known from Assyrian historical records… “It was a period of turmoil,” [Dr. Peter Zilberg of Bar-Ilan University] said. “We have the Hezekiah revolt right against [Assyrian King] Sennacherib. Duke told CBN News the significance of the Biblical manuscripts and why the discovery has revolutionized Biblical understanding.

“Before 1947, our best Hebrew manuscripts came from about 1,000 AD,” he said. “And when the first cave was found there at Qumran in 1947, it shaved off 1,000 years of manuscript transmission and let us see what the Hebrew Bible was like, what scrolls were like around the time of Jesus and the disciples.”

The scrolls were found by accident in the 1940s, with the discovery transforming understanding of original Biblical texts.

“In late 1946 or early 1947, Bedouin teenagers were tending their goats and sheep near the ancient settlement of Qumran, located on the northwest shore of the Dead Sea in what is now known as the West Bank,” History reported. “One of the young shepherds tossed a rock into an opening on the side of a cliff and was surprised to hear a shattering sound.”

Inside the cave were clay jars filled with scrolls. Other scrolls were later found in additional nearby caves, with every Old Testament book outside of Esther being represented among the findings. The date of the scrolls proves how the texts were well-preserved over time.

Duke, a Biblical expert, said his personal studies of the Dead Sea Scrolls have given him “more confidence in the Bible,” especially regarding the significance of the English translations many read today.

“It does give us a sense that the English translations we’re reading today are based on wonderful manuscripts that go all the way back to the time of the New Testament,” he said.

Duke said visitors to the Museum of the Bible will have the chance to explore the Dead Sea Scrolls as part of the 75th anniversary tour organized by the Israel Antiquities Authority.
