Dear Ron,
“And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret, and saw two ships standing by the lake…And he entered into one of the ships…And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship.” Luke 5:1-3

In “Pressing Beyond Busyness,” found under Nancy’s Corner on www.wadetaylor.org, I wrote, “Each of us in various ways, find ourselves pressing, or being pressed, to accomplish one purpose or another. The most important question we could consider is, are we ‘pressing’ toward that which has eternal value, or toward that which will pass away? Are we being faithful in those things the Lord has called us to, or are we busy with other things?”
There is a dissatisfied satisfaction in my heart that pushes me onward. I am so thankful for all the Lord has done, yet there is a burning desire in me for more. As I look at past visitations, I see a progression leading to that which the Lord would yet do today. How I long to see that greater manifestation of His presence and power in our midst!
Scripture has warned us of an anti-Christ spirit that will come and of other things that will transpire. We are to be aware and not surprised when these things happen, but there is something greater that will also take place, which we are invited to take part in.
Isaiah 60 speaks of a glory to be seen in the darkness round about. Zechariah 10:1 speaks of a time of latter rain and says we are to ask of the Lord rain when this time comes. As our redemption draws nigh, we can “look up” in faith and hope, expectantly looking to the Lord for that which He would yet do in the earth today.
What are we pressing toward? There are always two ships…choices we must make! May we be found faithful as we press toward the Lord, desiring all that He has for us today and for all of eternity.
