“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them” (Ephesians 2:10).

Please notice the word “should” in the above verse. “Choice” is at the very heart of an overcoming life. As we make choices, our character is formed, and we become who we are. A vital choice we can make is to pursue a deeper relationship with the Lord.

I have been reading and praying into the prayers of Paul. Even though much was going on socially and politically during Paul’s lifetime, he chose to focus his prayers on his desire for a deeper working of the Lord in the lives of Christians, that they might come to the fullness of God’s will for their lives. Paul’s longing was for himself and others to have a deep, experiential knowledge of the Lord (Philippians 3:10).

A relationship can range from being a stranger…to an acquaintance…a friend…a best friend. Recently I became engaged and will soon be married; in that relationship I have been experiencing a progression of growth. Likewise, we can grow in our relationship with the Lord. Salvation is the first step of a relationship with the Lord that is to grow as we come to experientially know Him through the process of time and interaction.

In this month’s Article of the Month, (featured on www.wadetaylor.org) Wade Taylor says, “Our experience and testimony should parallel that of our Lord Jesus Christ.” How awesome that we can be or become a witness of Him! That “as He is” so we can be in this life! (1 John 4:17)

May we have this focus of spirit and burning desire for the Lord as we walk through the events of our times. May we make right choices! Choosing to walk in His ways. Day by day growing ever closer in our relationship with Him.

I encourage you to pray into the prayers Paul prayed. And as you do, may the Lord bless, strengthen, and encourage you as never before!

(Prayers of Paul: Ephesians 1:16-23; Ephesians 3:14-21; Philippians 1:9-11; Colossians 1:9-12; 1 Thessalonians 1:2-4; 2 Thessalonians 1:3, 11-12)
