    What are ‘expired protocols?’

    By Bill Click

Basically- in whatever arena they refer to- procedures and processes which no longer apply because the conditions have changed and they are no longer effective in producing the desired result.

In Christ, an expired protocol is something we were doing with God that He was calling for, honoring, was ‘working,’ but the Holy Spirit moved on. But- not having moved on- we have failed to adjust to the change of God’s direction in our lives &/or ministries. When this happens, previous activities no longer have any effectiveness in producing the “righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit” (the actual bona fides of being in the Kingdom of God- Ro.14:17). Instead, these activities comprise the work of our life, but have a decreasing sense of purpose, meaning, value &/or significance.

    WHAT IS GOD DOING?

There is a new revolution in the Spirit coming that you need to be prepared for now!

    Religiously, protocols never expire.

In fact, they tend to get protected at all costs. For religion, effectiveness at flowing in the life of God is not tantamount- keeping the place of prominence or visibility, staying true to the doctrine, honoring or remembering the past is- though the life of God may not be found at all.

Why does religion allow, expect and even demand that you do the same thing again and again? Because there is no expectation of change; there is no vision of advancement, there is no true, heart level, spiritual hunger. Instead, a natural picture is what’s seen as the greatest good in God. One of keeping it going, the way is should be, the way it was, or adding more people, getting better at programs and obtaining more resources.

Past ‘moves of God’ become today’s traditions.

Open your eyes and you will see it all around you. Hot churches rise up, and then they cool off. People leave, and various other’s absorb those who depart (& issues they came with as well). Big ministries make a splash and then many times have a visible skirmish or public catastrophe, then try to tread water. Cutting edge ministry networks seem to flourish for a time, but then they struggle to survive or disband altogether. All the above- as important it may be in preparing some people during those seasons- is only scaffolding for what is yet to come, that which Christ is calling His Church to prepare for which will stand forever.

Don’t become a monument to where God was.

You need to make sure that you don’t become a monument to where God was, what God used to do, or where God used to move. I’m not even referring to mainline churches; I’m not even referring to places hitting growth plateaus, either. I’m talking about instances wherever and with whomever that just want to add to what they already have, or just get better at it, or have more of it. That is an expired protocol which fails to face the reality that we are still so very far from who God has called the church to be and lacking in the potency of Christ’s desired release of the Spirit through the Church.

But that is not what God has promised to those who will not be satisfied with less than His desires fulfilled in the earth.
