Good Afternoon All!

Will someone help me to connect this verse to what is going on currently in the world?

This morning I was given Nehemiah, Chapter 1 to meditate.  There was particular emphasis on Nehemiah 1:3 which says,  And they said to me, “The survivors who are left from the captivity in the province are there in great distress and reproach. The wall of Jerusalem is also broken down, and its gates are burned with fire.”  (NKJV)

I keep hearing “destruction” in my spirit.  In addition “old waste cities.” I know that this chapter is about rebuilding Jerusalem.  And I believe Jerusalem to be one of the waste cities.  And I believe there will be a “New Jerusalem in the Kingdom.”

However, you have to tear down before you can rebuild. And with so many warnings of late, I believe that I should perceive this as another.  I am concerned that our people must return to the Lord or soon be destroyed.

In Joel 2, restoration comes before the Lord pours out His Spirit on all men (Joel 2: 24 -32)  This also indicates to me that there must first be the re-establishment of something. To me this restoration or re-establishment is the return of life to us before Adam and Eve sinned.

Kevin or anyone else, any comments?

Thanks for your thoughts and God bless you.

Hi Kaaren, I believe we need to look at this "story" as how it applies to us spiritually, not so much as it applies to world conditions. That is to say that as it applies to the desolation, people drawing away from the organized ("the way it was, the way it is, the way it will be,) church as where it appears to me to be, on a large scale, fragmented, stagnate, dead and habitually traditional.  Back to the original "kingdom" that Jesus taught that HE would build. I like to think of the different things named in the story as mans tampering and assumed beliefs implanted by hundreds of years of educated thinking and expounding. This I would associate with tearing down , that is MANS traditional teaching. Being restored to Jesus Kingdom focus, Holy Spirit directed Church as one unit in Agape love and humility It seems to make more sense to me this way.  This ia only posibility thinking for you, I can be taught and or corrected. Blessings to YOU!   billybob

Hi Billybob!

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts with me.  I agree that we need to view the story as it applies to us spiritually and not worldly.  And I really like your contrasting of the "tearing down of the traditional Church and being restored to a Kingdom focused, Holy Spirit driven and directed Church as one unit in Agape love and humility."  I totally receive it!

You are my teacher today and I will stay in this thought until the Holy Spirit gives me something different.

Again, thank you for your comments.

God bless you also.
