From Nawansega: Islamic Village Accepts Christ!!!! - Cliff Pash
This is a two week update on our continuing mission to Nawansega - a village that is over 90% Muslims - a place where there is no church of the Christian faith. The nearest churches are approximately one hour walk from this village where there is no water and no electricity.
We have counted over 700 salvations from our first 13 days of crusade meetings. We believe most of the people are now born again from the Islamic religion.
We have seen dozens and dozens of people being healed as God demonstrates the power of His great name. Julie and I have never seen an open heaven such as we are experiencing in this village.
Every baby that Julie prays for is healed. Some have been very sick with high fevers from malaria, but when Julie prays, they are walking and eating within the hour and the fever is greatly reduced or gone.
Our team consists of 11 young people from Kitale, Kenya and 10 from the Jinja, Uganda area. These are the most highly motivated group of people that I have ever been with. They believe God will do everything the word says He will do through them. They believe whatever they ask for, God will give them because they are asking in the perfect will of God -- That His name would be known in that area, that His glory would be seen by the people of that area, that the people of that area would see His beauty and would dwell in the courts of the Lord this day and each day. Therefore, God answers every prayer that Jesus would have been praying for in His day and we are praying in our day.
Even the people who are receiving salvation are beginning to go with our teams into the various family compounds and praying for the sick and telling the people of the gospel of the Kingdom of God.
As these young people are speaking the gospel of the Kingdom, they are discussing these ideas with Islamic clerics (Imams and Sheiks). To me it is amazing to see a young girl (Madiinah) engaged in a conversation with 3-5 men who are obviously leaders.
She is telling them that the way they know God renders God powerless and unable to express His glory on the earth because to them, God is far and you cannot hear from God nor does God really hear you. To them, we must submit, but never speak of God in these intimate ways that King David always spoke of God.
Often, the conversation reaches a stopping place, but then God always demonstrates the power and the glory of His great name. Madiinah is learning that when you have this type of conversation, always give God a chance to demonstrate the glory of his name. Insist on praying for one of the people who was listening and whatever you ask God for in that instant, He will do. And God will confirm that what Madiinah was speaking is true. He heals the first one that will allow us to pray.
We intend to begin a church and orphanage and maybe a school in this village. We will need funds to do this work. If God is speaking to you, please contact us.
Here are some brief testimonies given to me by our team from Kitale, Kenya on just one afternoon!!
a. debate with Islamic family - received salvation b. A witchdoctors wife welcomed us and after discussion, she believed Jesus for salvation and prayer for healing from Malaria. During the prayer time, her husband came from his witchdoctor work. When he saw us, he feared us greatly and ran away. c. one Muslim lady god saved and believed God for strength to heal her body during her pregnancy. d. Two other Muslim families received salvation, one both husband and wife - the wife being pregnant and fearing for the childs health. e. one Muslim lady received Christ after praying for her boy who was sick and then was healed.
I will try to bring other testimonies to you in future reports. When I sit to write, I never can seem to find all the reports we have. The entire team is so amazed that Muslims are coming to faith in such numbers as has never been seen in this place.
The Sheik told me on the second day there that many have come into this village to preach about Christ, but as you can seem, there is no church here. I viewed this as a threat from this man. The threat was not physical, but, he had such confidence in his religion and in his ability to keep people in the mosque that a church would never be formed here.
Would you help us to show this Sheik that God's people will stand with the new believers in this village???
Each day, we are conducting discipleship programs for the new believers from 11am til 2pm. Then, we have the crusade each night from 4pm to 6:30 pm. We pray for 100 people minimum each night.
Our teams are visiting family compounds each day while the discipleship programs are being conducted and seeing so many come to faith and being healed.
This is the village that Sarah Namaganda was born in, even though she left at a very early age. Many are relatives of her father who died when Sarah was 9 months of age. Sarah is the girl from the village who has returned to her village and brought the village a great blessing.
We have such favor in this place, a favor that is really so rare that it can never be quite the same again.
We do not want to miss this opportunity to develop a ministry in this place - to be faithful to what God has begun here through us.
We did not heal anybody, but God used us to bring His healing of body, soul, spirit, mind will and emotion.
God is doing His part as never before seen by Julie and myself. Now, we must be faithful to do our part. Many of the team from Kitale and from Jinja have told me that if we begin a work there, they will be faithful to continue to work on a full time basis or on a part time basis. They are asking me!!! I have not asked them.
To construct the orphanage and church will take approximately $10,000 and the land will cost $1,200. We will be leaving a team of 5 people or more to continue the work when we depart - and the team is currently committed to stay 1-2 months to launch this work.
There is a Kenyan pastor whom God is touching and is praying to see if God would bring him and his family to this place.
I have not asked anybody to stay nor have I intended to do this. But we have been seeing the glory of God in such a way that they are continually coming to me asking "what is it that we should do when the crusade is over?"
Thank you for your continued prayers for the resistance has been great but the fruit has been greater.
Until next time

Islamic Village Accepts Christ Update II Cliff Pash Jul 19, 2007
Greetings from Nawansega, an Islamic Village in Easter Uganda.
God has been doing amazing things here as everyday many are accepting Christ as their Personal Lord and Savior and coming to know of the presence and the glory and the power of the Most High God in ways that to most are impossible, yet, it is what our God desires.
We have now counted over 1200 salvations in the two weeks that we have been ministering here. Yesterday alone, there were over 200.
Because we have been faithful in the small things, the foundations have been laid for a big harvest. We have been going out in small groups during the day to the various family compounds, we have been conducting a discipleship class on foundations of the faith each morning and we have just finished our 14 consecutive evening crusade.
Last night we showed the movie "Jesus", the one based upon the Gospel of Luke. We have over 50 salvations at the end of that movie. Last week, we showed the "Passion of the Christ" and had over 200 salvations that night alone.
The family of a long time friend of mine who recently passed away (Glenn Kailer) has lent ATK a large projection screen and projector. This allows the films to be seen from a long distance. How thankful we are for this gift.
We have been faithful in studying Islam and the ways the Islamic peoples think and the strengths and the weaknesses of that religious system.
When we are asked which religion is the true religion, I take them back to the first religion - that being when Cain and Abel brought their sacrifices to God. Cain had an evil heart towards his brother and God could not receive that sacrifice until the heart of Cain was right before his brother -- which was conditional before his heart could be right with God.
Understand that the only true religion is the one that can change our hearts towards our brother. If a religious system cannot do that, it cannot be a true religion. If our religious system boasts of a powerless God who cannot change our heart, then that system is powerless or the person is not committed to God.
We teach that God desires that we gaze upon His beauty and dwell in His courts each day of our lives, that Heaven is not a place to go to when we die, but something that comes near, or comes upon us or comes among us or dwells within us when we are walking with the Most High God through Jesus Christ in the way God intended.
To think of God as a Husband or as a Bridegroom is very different in our religious ways of thinking, but when we walk with God as Enoch, Elijah, Elisha, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, then God is always near and the power of the King is always near and the Domain of the King is always with us and the things that we ask for are the same things that Jesus asked for and God will always answer those requests.
The Sheik and the Imams have had no answers for our arguments for they are trained to debate Evangelical Christianity and they normally win those debates.
I stand before the Sheik and tell him that God would desire to do the same works that He did through Jesus -- through the Sheik if he would only believe. The man got very nervous and began to argue with his closest advisors. The sheik also attends our meetings which is very interesting. Some people will not attend because of this, but we do not find it threatening.
See, if we can challenge the mosque to get rid of the witchcraft, that people would not seek the power of charms, fetishes and amulets, that if people would lead lives that are demonstrating the holiness of the great name of our God, if the people of the mosque would treat their women with honor and establish the reputation of our God in a decent way, then they would find they do not have the Power of God to do so. Jesus Christ becomes the only answer to changing our hearts.
My young man, Fred Mangoli, led a team in to various family compounds yesterday and personally led over 50 people to receive Jesus Christ. Entire family units are coming to Christ as never before.
I have trained them to trust God. When the conversation is over and you have made your arguments for Christ, then expect God to do something to confirm your words, for God desires that His name would be made known to every tribe and tongue, that His ways would be known everywhere on earth.
In that moment, I believe whatever you ask, God will give. His name and His reputation depend upon it. Therefore, ask God what He would do to establish His reputation in that family compound when the discussion is over.
Usually God will heal somebody or he will give a prophetic word or a word of knowledge. Dozens are being healed.
Fred writes: "They didn't believe that God can be near and that God can heal. Sop we asked if any of them was sick! There was a women who had been disturbed with pain in her legs and she could not walk. We prayed with herand she was healed and they promised to begin attending the discipleship classes!!"
Understand that this family compound had thirty people living there or visiting there when Fred and his team entered. Praise the Living God, the God Most High, the King and the Creator of the Universe.
This is part of a report of one of the three teams that was going to family compounds yesterday.
This is a village with no Born Again church, only an American Episcopal church of 25 members.
People are asking "Will you begin a church in our village?" I have no money to do so, nor was it budgeted. We would like to begin a small orphanage and church combination project. We believe that within the year, the church will need to be much bigger but will begin with a 100 member size.
Please ask God "What should I do?" If He says go there and lead Muslims to Christ, book your airline ticket today and come this way. If he says, "Begin a church", then ask Him what your role should be.
This village is 95% Islamic and has been for generations. God is doing His part by demonstrating His glory and His Holiness. Will we be faithful?
Thank you for being associated with Julie and I as we are giving away our lives for this Gospel of the Kingdom.
Bye for now

Islamic Village Accepts Christ III Cliff Pash Jul 25, 2007
Greetings from Nawansega, Uganda
May God continue to strengthen you and may you continue to become all that God has created you to be and to become. May the world see the perfect creation that He made you to be.
We are completing our 4 weeks of intensive outreach to this village which has been Islamic for generations. We estimate that 1200 people have come to receive salvation through this series of crusades and outreach to the family compounds.
We are now believing that God is speaking that a church must be raised up in this place. We are continually asked what are the people to do when we depart.
The local sheik was bragging when he told me that many have come to preach about Jesus, but as you can see, there is no church here. I believe this will be our next battle ground in this fight. The mosque has kicked out several of their members because they rented us property or gave us land to use for our ministry here. There have been threats. They have gone to the local authorities and done whatever they could to keep us from continuing.
Today, we will finalize the purchase of a plot of land that will serve in the beginning as a church and as an orphanage project. We received a donation from a long time friend of this ministry to purchase the land, build the latrines and to construct perhaps 3 living units. There is a very old mud hut also on this land that will sleep 8 people or so. We receive our completed benches for the people to sit today.
We are still praying for the monies to come to constuct a roof for the church to keep the rain and the sun off of the people who attend.
The construction of the latrines has already begun.
God has been so wonderful to us by answering our every prayer. When the team prays for healing, the people are healed. When the team prays for deliverance, Jesus demonstrates His authority over the enemies of God and those occultic spirits of Islam flee. The people are then free to embrace the rule and reign of God.
Many of the first ones to receive salvation from their sins are now praying for people and seeing the hand of God through their lives over and over. All power and all authority is given to disciple the nations. Disciplship continues until the people there speak and do in the same way as our Kenyans and Ugandans are now doingk.
We have fashioned a message to Islam that speaks right into the heart of that religion. Jesus is the way to the Most High God, that no man can come into God's presence except through Jesus for especially in Islam, the religion keeps man from having that intimate relationship with God -- they would say such a relationship is impossible.
Also, with Islam comes the DJinn Spirits (occultic spirits) and most Muslims would have no problem with seeking the power of the ancestral spirits or any other spirits for fertility or for protection or for blessings or to put a curse on their enemies. Therefore, the Bible would say you are serving many gods and are not putting your faith in God, the Most High.
WE have had great fun demonstrating this idea because some of our team members are born again Muslims and understand this in a way that most Americans do not. When the Imam goes to the witchdoctors to put a curse on me, it demonstrates that the Imam does not have any faith in Allah or any other supreme god, but only the spirits of the ancestors.
Gideons father said if Baal is god, let him defend himself, but for the Imam, his god was so small that he had to go to the gods of the ancestors to curse me!! The Imam had to defend his god and even pay for the curse with the sacrifice of some animal. Well, that demonstrates the problem with Islam today.
One lady could not believe that our team would go to their family compound and pray for them to be healed without charging them the cost of an animal or some monies. Of course, we have freely received and are always wanting to freely give that which God has given to us.
Now begins the real work, the work of discipling the people who have come to Christ and who want us to begin a church. We have full confidence that "all power and all authority is given to disciple the nations" from Mt 28. Therefore, we know that this is the most important part of this continuing mission.
We count on asking Jesus to stretch this definition to include whatever we ask to disciple this village and to birth a church filled with vision and power, the vision and the power to change a region.
If you would like to join us in this mission, we invite you to come to Uganda in person, begin a school, teach, do outreach or whatever God might speak to you about. This is a village with no running water and no electricity, but it is good to live with a challenge.
Advancing The Kingdom has a vision to begin a school in this village in the future for there is only an Islamic school currently there.
May God bless you and keep you and cause His face to shine upon you. May God pour out His Presence upon you now.

The First Church in Islamic Village is Open!!! Cliff Pash Jul 31, 2007
The first church in Nawensega is now open and doing well. For the first Sunday that Cliff & Julie were NOT there, Seventy adults attended and 42 children. When church was over, nobody wanted to leave that place. The Spirit of God was so heavy over the place and the people remained and just enjoyed each other.
Conditions are somewhat primitive as there is no building but only a 20' X 30' tent awning to keep the sun off of the people.
We are currently beginning development of the property to include an orphanage, pastors housing and the church itself. We are determined to make this project be self sustaining for the work must continue for generations.
We have begun by constructing the toilets first at a cost of $700.00. This entails digging a pit of over 40' depth and setting a brick structure of 15' below ground, a concrete slab and then the brick structure above the ground.
We will begin constructing 6 rooms for children and for the pastor at a cost of $4,000 to complete properly. This will be a 30' X 20' house. We currently are seeking donations of $3,500 to complete this project properly.
This orphanage home will house a minimum of 12 children and the pastor's family.
Please note the cost of this project is far far below whatever it is that others say an orphanage will cost to construct. We have received such favor from the community and people have blessed us with so much.
Most of the food we have needed for our team is being donated through the tithing of the local villagers.
Finally, we will need to construct an awning for the church when monies become available.
The people are very excited and are very committed to a community church in this formerly Islamic Village. When we arrived, the leader of the mosque arrogantly told me that "Many have come to preach from this bible of yours. You do not see a church here, do you?" Now a church has begun.
The team of young people from Uganda and from Kenya are recognizing the historical moment that we find ourselves in. God began a great work through our efforts.
As we told people the Good News: God is near, turn your life over to Him and believe that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him, GOD BEGAN TO HEAL THE SICK!!!
The lame did walk, those who were dumb (could not speak) began to speak, malaria was healed.
Once again, a lady with HIV/AIDS was healed (everywhere we go there seems to always be one). This lady has now become our most effective evangelist.
There is one man, Paul, who has worked with youth in the community but who often drank alcohol too much has become the one that may be the permanent pastor and 4-5 young men are going out with our ATK team members to pray with the various families of the village. Paul is so excited about what Jesus has done for him and tells everybody.
We believe the church will end up being around 200 members. These members cannot be people who sit on the benches, but who are active in sharing their faith and who have compassion on the sick and those bound by unforgiveness and other problems. These are the ones that the Father in heaven would desire to do His own works through in the same way that He did His own works through Jesus.
Pastor Festus went to Kenya to bring his wife and children to Nawansega and will pastor this work of God for a minimum of 60 days. This was God's working on his heart.
Most of the team that was with me in this village will either move there for a season or will visit a minimum of one week per month.
I have been suprised at the commitment that each of our twenty team members have shown to everything that God begins. They are learning that God will do whatever it takes to establish His reputation among men and to turn the hearts of men to Himself. Yes, God will do whatever we ask.
I have learned so much. When we preach the Good News, God will always heal the sick. What is the Good News? The message was always "The Kingdom of God is at hand (God is as close as your hand, God is near). Turn your life over to God, every area. Then believe He is a rewarder of those who dilligently seek Him." When you are done with that message, Heal the Sick!!
I have become so confident that God will heal at that time and our team has seen this happen over and over again. After preaching this message of the Good News, they always ask for the sick to be healed.
They (the young people from Kenya and Uganda) are becoming so confident that God will do because it is His nature and it is His expressed desire that every tribe and every tongue would come to know Him as the Lord and there is no other. He will always bless us so that His ways would be made known on the earth.
To sustain this work will need the partnership of many of you in America and other places in the world. Please pray for us and for those who have committed their lives to see Muslims come to Christ and turn their lives over to God.
Thank you and may God continue to build within you a faith that cannot be shaken, a lifetime of love of God, intimacy with God and walking with our God in the ways of Enoch, Adam, Abraham, Noah and the other giants of the faith.
God bless you.

Building a Church in an Islamic Village Cliff Pash Aug 18, 2007
Good Morning from Uganda!!
We are continuing our work in "what was" a 100% Islamic Village of Nawansega, near the town of Idudi, Uganda. This place has been Islamic for generations and there was no church there.
The next village over has a church of 25 Episcopalians and the village the other way has a church of 10-15. Christianity has never been able to break into the Islamic stronghold of this place.
Last Sunday, there were over 140 members attending the Advancing The Kingdom Church of Nawansega. Nobody could believe it! God is moving and demonstrating His power and His character so that His name would be made known among this people. God began to do mighty miracles in July and continues to do them even in the last week.
The ministry in the village is very difficult because it has been Islamic for generations. Islam walks hand in hand with the demonic realm, One of the books of the Quran is the book of the djinnis or the demons.
Muslims study this stuff and say they use the demons to gain success in business and to defend their god and things like that. Each new born again person needs to be prayed that they might be delivered from this demonic realm. There always seems to be a heavy oppression over the place.
God is breaking through the darkness and many are feeling His presence and His love and their bodies are responding to this by being restored. With our God, every dead area of our life (body, soul, spirit) is made new.
Every chain is broken, every prison door opened, spirits are regenerated, the mental oppression is broken, the emotional bondage is broken and even the body is healed. Through Christ, every area of our lives is made new. It is so wonderful to see God doing this every day in Nawansega.
We are spending much energy of people and resources (over $100.00 per week) so that # 1- we continue to go to family compounds and pray for people. Three of our team spent all day in the family compounds and prayed for over 50 people yesterday. They were very tired. #2- nightly meetings - could be called revival meetings or some would just say we have church each night. And # 3- We conduct daily bible study and discipleship training for these new Christians.
We try to bring people there every week to help with the work. The ones living there right now are 3 ladies (age 30-50) and two young men (22) and a Kenyan pastor, his wife and 2 children. Pastor Festus does not know the language nor do the others, but are learning to communicate with the Busoga peoples. He has such a pastor's heart and the people love him in the village.
So many are dedicated to this work and many others want to work there for one week, one month or longer.
Several in the community are very faithful and God is doing wonders with them. There is one man who is very much transformed by our being there and he may be being groomed to be a pastor. At one time he was helping young people in this place, but alcohol began to control his life.
Now, God is restoring him and growing him and his heart is so tender towards God. There are 3 other young men from the village and one lady especially who are also being radically transformed and are very dedicated to Jesus and to this new church. It appears that this will become the leadership team.
Each day there are miracles of some sort happening due to the efforts of the team. Each week, there are still physical healings, but also many other types of miracles.
The sheik from the mosque told me that "Many have come to preach from your bible, but look around you, you do not see a church here do you?" He intends to keep that success record intact. They are even doing door to door evangelism to stop the work that our God is doing!
THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE CHURCH, ORPHANAGE, ETC.
Beginning this church seems to be somewhat different than most church plants. Since there were no Christians in this village, a church meeting place had to be established quickly.
The question most asked when we were ministering to the people was "If I become a Christian, will you leave us like the others have, with no church and no one to teach us?"
We received a donation from a wonderful friend of this ministry. With those monies, we purchased some land, built toilets and bath areas, and began a 6 room building to house either staff or children.
Currently, we have 7 adults and 2 children who have given their lives to work in this village. They live in a mud hut with 6 small rooms and a roof that leaks.
We are praying for the monies to finish the housing and to construct a simple church that might seat up to 200 people. Remember, over 140 have been attending in 2 of the last 3 weeks (it rained the 3rd week).
I believe that when these building projects are done, we will begin to provide for 10-20 orphan children from the village and find a way to begin schooling them (the only school within 30 minutes of walking is an Islamic school ). Many of the children in the village do not go to school at all. This will help to sustain the ministry.
The people of the village have been great, donating much fruit and other foods each week and donating a bicycle for the pastor and a tape player so that the church can have some music. (I need to purchase a keyboard soon)
The pastor has been teaching these new Christians about tithing and supporting their church in ways other than or in addition to the small amount of money these villagers have.
We also have been offered the land directly to the left of the church which would help us with the land restrictions and would give us more living quarters for those who come to this village.
The monies we are paying for construction is far below anything I have seen, but that may be because we are getting African prices and not American prices from the builder. Of course we pray that this favor will continue.
Just a note that I find interesting. No colonial government brought Christianity to Islamic nations -- ask yourself why? Colonialism brought Christianity to all of the other areas of Africa except for the areas that are Islamic.
Islam is now growing again throughout Africa - which may be a reflection of the self serving Christianity that is often brought here (ie prosperity messages, and some other ways of welfare thinking that the church often brings unintentionally).
Nobody can believe that a church is being born here in the heart of an Islamic area and it has so many members. All are amazed that God is doing so many wonders. As I speak of these wonders to pastors and people here in Uganda, they are so encouraged and amazed.
Bye for now
